After two major accidents killing numerous astronauts, why would nasa even consider loosening safety requirments for the shuttle? This is ridiculous. They should be tightening everything at this point in time. Right now going on past experience there is a 1 in 50 chance of a catastrophic accident on a shuttle flight. Would you ride in a car if there was a 1 in 50 chance of a death causing accident? I don't think so.
It sound like this is a move by NASA to get the shuttle back flying again, no matter what the risks. This is not the way NASA used to be, safety first, not PR first.

3 Trillion in counterfit currency?
2 Brits nabbed with $3 trillion in fake US fed notes
The National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) on Thursday said it has arrested two British nationals with $3 trillion fake US federal bank notes in their possession, DZMM reported.
NBI Director Reynaldo Wycoco identified the suspects as Paul Edward John Flavell and Sam Beany. The two listed their address as Unit 305 CEO Apartments in Jupiter Street, Makati City.
The suspects were not physically present during the press conference called by Wycoco at the NBI office in Taft Avenue, Manila. Only the suspects' photographs were shown to reporters.
Wycoco said NBI agents have also launched a manhunt for two other British nationals involved in the syndicate.
The two other suspects are Seki Mehmet Bayram and Peter Whittkamp.
Flavell and Beany's arrest came following a tip from international cargo forwarder DHL Philippines Inc. on April 14, Wycoco said.
The tip was about a shipment consigned to two foreigners, which was pending at the company warehouse.
The forwarder said the cargo was bound for Zurich, Switzerland.
The NBI dispatched a team to the DHL office. The agents were able to chance upon the suspects as they were paying the airway bill amounting to P53,967.
Company records show the suspects paid using a credit card.

Rock Frontman Detained In Airport For Wearing Gun T-shirt
According to reports Stereophonics frontman Kelly Jones was stopped from boarding a airplane flight at London's Heathrow Airport after the design on his T-shirt caused an unexpected security alert.
While on his way through airport security to board the flight, Jones found himself questioned after repeatedly setting off the metal detector, before the design on the singer’s T-shirt provoked one guard to claim it would prevent
him from flying at all.
"I beeped as I went through the metal detector,” Jones is quoted by website Contact Music as saying, “So they took my belt, watch and phone off.
"The guy takes me aside and says, 'You know you're not supposed to wear that.' I said, 'Not supposed to wear what?' I honestly didn't have a clue."
A security man then pointed to the singer's T-shirt - which featured a picture of a pistol with a flame coming out of the top.
"I was like, 'What am I going to do with a gun on a T-shirt?'” Jones continued, "So he called his superior over. By this point I was like 'You're having a laugh, mate.' He started asking me if it was embossed with anything, but it wasn't.
"I thought he was going to ask me to strip down and change. I mean, it's not as if my T-shirt was loaded."

Failure to comply with these changes institutes lawsuits which can not be won as they are settled in international courts which care nothing about U.S. laws. Incidentally, Europe has been very leery of genetically modified foods because of serious concerns about their safety. By this same WTO mechanism Europe will be forced to accept importation of U.S. GMO foods even if they know they are bad for health.
The features of Codex Alimentaris are:
No supplements can be sold for preventative or therapeutic use.
Any potency higher than RDA levels (pathetically low) is a drug that requires a prescription and must be produced by drug companies.
Codex regulations are binding internationally
New supplements are banned unless given Codex testing and approval (certain to expensive and lacking in scientific merit). Norway and Germany are already operating under the new Codex regulations. The price of zinc tablets has gone from $4 to $52. Echinacea has risen from $14 to $153.
