When Hitler came to power, he surrounded himself with loyalists. He seized control of all levers of government, took vengeance on political enemies, and subverted the media. He weaponized propaganda, then rounded up Jews, Queers, and others. He put them in camps, and people did nothing to stop him. People compare Trump to Hitler because the same thing is happening in America today. In his march to complete power, no one is stopping him. Voters chose him over a Black woman, either at the ballot box, or by withholding their votes all together. This is not complicated. This is reality when a civil body politic becomes complacent, takes their freedoms for granted, and fails to safeguard their blessings of liberty. Democracy is fragile at best. It requires participation, attentiveness, and the security of a society to nurture and protect it. Too many Americans do not cherish what they had enough to secure it with their time and service. People compare Trump to Hitler, and America to the situation in Germany in 1936 because when past is present, far to often the horrors of what was repeats itself.
