FBI directors notes prove Gonzales tried to goad Ashcroft on wiretaps

Attorney General John Ashcroft was "feeble, barely articulate (and) clearly stressed" when then-White House Counsel Alberto Gonzales and White House Chief of Staff Andrew Card visited his hospital room to push for legal approval of a warrantless wiretap program approved by President Bush, according to newly released notes from FBI Director Mueller.
