The fossil fuel industry has spent billions trying to hide the fact climate change is real and bribing politicians in an effort to protect their trillions yet the folks here are more concerned about some green agenda? The fossil fuel industry isn't your friend, shilling for them does no good.
Way too many folks in this place are convinced climate change is a hoax and it's all some green conspiracy agenda to take away your rights but these very same folks ignore the agenda the fossil fuel industry has been enacting for the past century.
They spent billions trying to hide the fact climate change is real, they spent billions bribing the politicians we vote for so that they could spread anti-green and climate denial bs, they spent billions so they could secure their trillions in profits which they continue to make today.
Meanwhile the effects of climate change are becoming more and more apparent as the window to act gets ever more tighter. Why shill for the fossil fuel industry when they're the leading cause as to why you or potentially your children will suffer in future years.
Oil is finite and limited, it runs outs. Basing our whole society on an energy source that may very well run out in the near future is just backwards.
While the politics behind green energy are iffy at best that doesn't mean some grand conspiracy is happening in which every single climate scientist is bribed and all the data is fake and climate change isn't actually real. The only folks manipulating the data is the fossil fuel industry.
Moving away from fossil fuels, moving to more long term sources of energy such as renewables or nuclear and fusion is the best step forward in our society.
Even in the astronomically unlikely situation that climate change isn't real so what, we move our society away from an energy source we will pretty soon run out of.
So we do nothing and keep current course then find out at some point in the future that oh shit we're running out of oil and the effects of climate change are clear as day as our societies deal with the untold devastating cost to human life and the economy as a whole. At that point it'll be too late to change.
As the old saying goes, better to have it and not need it than to need it and not have it.
